Jane Corbett designs and creates unique hats and head dresses, designing to suit each individual client, their outfit and the occasion. Each piece is handmade using traditional millinery techniques.
Jane was trained by the Queen Mothers milliner - Rose Cory and worked in London for John Boyd's in Beauchamp Place before setting up her own business 6 years ago - culminating in opening up her own shop in Hungerford in 2004.
"My hats are a labour of love and so was the setting up of the shop itself; I did not want a modern shop fit, but a more personal feel; the shop has an eclectic mix of furniture and display cabinets, and the walls are decorated with hand painted designs."
"I want clients to feel they have stepped into a special place full of unusual and enticing objects, but not a precious place - I'm very happy for clients to settle on the sofa with a cup of coffee - shopping need not be a 21st century rush here!!"
Jane specialises in hand dyeing silks, straws and feathers to exactly colour match clients outfits.
For Jane it is the personal service to her clients that makes her business such a pleasure.
